The recent massive influx of asylum seekers and migrants in the EU has raised numerous issues, regarding not only their living standards and accommodation conditions, in the short- term, but also their long-term integration in society. A precondition for their welfare in the state of accommodation is their matching with jobs and inclusion in the labour market, according to their qualifications, academic background and professional skills.
Our company, GrantXpert, is involved in a new Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project, MyHandScraft, that deals with this very important issue.
Within the project’s course, “My HandScraft” will offer high quality learning opportunities tailored to the needs of low-skilled adults in the handcraft sector, building a bridge between migrants and skilled local handcrafters/artists, which will enhance their key competences & develop basic skills, foster peer learning, unleash creativity and innovation and promote intercultural dialogue & cross-cultural collaboration.
Taking into consideration the above, the project looks to develop an attractive education and training programme, aimed at improving basic skills of migrants, to increase the beneficiaries’ opportunities for social and economic integration into society and labour market, to up-skill and re-skill migrants and local handcrafters while applying the creative approach based on handscraft to unleash these targets’ potential for inter-cultural dialogue and cross-cultural collaboration, to increase the competencies of Adult Educators to teach innovative high quality learning in order to valorise adults’ competences, skills, cultural heritage & expertise, to be operationalised through a collaborative ICT tool, and to trigger and reinforce cooperation, networking & synergy effect among & between local handcrafters & artists, migrants & refugees undertaking handicraft & cultural activities in all partners’ countries. The project commenced in January 2019 and it will have a total duration of 30 months.
More news concerning the progress of the project will be posted in the project website (https://cesie.org/project/myhandscraft/) and our GrantXpert website.
